Good morning teachers and to my
fellow students.
I am here in front of all of you to
tell you what the meaning of death is. What is death? Is it a toy? A game in
the computer?
We are all exited to wake up every
morning thinking there is so much fun to do in the whole day. There so many
things happened in just twenty-four hours. Some are celebrating their
birthdays, others are having a party in their houses, and others are facing
their death. So what is death? Everything has an end. A story of a movie ends,
every book has its epilogue, and also a person has its death. We are all aware
that every one of us will face our own deaths. Death doesn’t think of age, life
status, or even gender. Death is such a great equalizer. You can’t say “I’m
preparing for my death” because death comes unexpectedly.
Have you ever imagine yourself facing
your death? How do you feel about it? Have you ever think what comes next after
death? What if there is no afterlife? What if afterlife is not true? What will
happen to me? To you? Have you ever ask those questions in your mind? Cause I
do.
Why do we need to die when it is
really good to live? Why do you need to die? Why do I need to die? Just why? We
are all scared to face our death. You’re scared right? Admit it. I am scared to.
There are so many things on earth that we will miss. We will miss our friends,
our family, even our pets. There are so many wonderful things that will be left
when we face our deaths.
There were days that I’m thinking
that what if I will die today? What will happen to my friends? To my family?
Who will take care of my pets? I have
that so many questions in mind that until now I couldn’t find the answer. And
can I able to answer those questions? Of course I can! When? Of course when I’m
already dead.
Why does everything has its ending?
For me, God put an end in every one of us here on earth to make us realize that
we need to treasure our lives. We should make some memories. It makes us
realize that life is short. Death is reminding us that we only live once and we
should enjoy it. Death makes our lives special.
We think of our life as the most
treasured thing that we have. If there is no death, people won’t think of their
lives special. We might think that we could do everything bad or good here on
earth because we won’t be dead by the way, so who cares? “Just do everything
you want to do, our lives doesn’t matter by the way”. So have you ever think that death is important too? It makes
our lives useful.
For
the follower of Christ, we remember that the sin we mourn in the world will one
day no longer be able to touch us, that the brokenness of our bodies and
spirits will one day be wholly healed and fully aligned with our Lord. Death is
a difficult, but desperately-needed reminder that we should not only strive to
cherish the brief life God has given us here , but also, paradoxically, that we
should hold it with open hands.
Even
if the timing doesn’t seem right to us, death does not surprise God. We do not
know the instant the Lord will call us to walk down the path into the valley of
the shadow of death. Age is not always an indicator, neither is health, nor
morality, nor wealth.
But
believers can rest in the trust that the length of our days is not counted out
for us by someone easily bribed by good deeds, or by someone looking to trample
us. The number of our days are known by someone who keeps his children’s good
ever before his eye, and who knows the intricacies of all lives over all of
time. He never does anything that does not work out good in, through, and for
his children
So
does my speech makes sense? We shouldn’t be afraid to die. Don’t think of your
death too much, instead, have some fun! Make some memories! When the time
comes, you can say to yourself that “ I am not afraid and I’m ready. Thank you for
the memories”. Thank you.
